FAU: Study shows male sea turtles are vanishing closer to home

FAU researchers have been studying and documenting sea turtles in Palm Beach County since 2002, and found that 97 to 100 percent of the hatchlings have been female. Unlike humans, sea turtles don’t have sex chromosomes. Their sex is determined by the nest’s environment: warmer temperatures produce females and cooler temperatures produce males.
